Hey River Valley!
We are really getting excited because we are getting so close to Easter and the "40 Days of Community" campaign. We are especially thrilled because so many of you have committed to prayer regarding the impact our church will have on Bastrop, Texas.
We know we could organize events and talk about this enough that we might see some fruit, but we are convinced that a genuine move of God can only occur if we lean not on our own understanding, but on the Lord. That is why we have emphasized prayer so much and we are grateful that you have participated. Prayer is us acknowledging how desperately we need God to help us in even the smallest details. We have sought His wisdom and direction and are excited about what He will do!
This week, as you continue to pray at 4:00, keep in mind our third and final value at River Valley is "Relationships." This one can stretch over a wide spectrum, so I'll list them out fairly briefly.
Pray for relationships that are developed in small groups. We have five new groups and ten groups that have been in motion for the past year. Pray that as friendships grow and develop, we would appreciate the value of relationships centered on Jesus Christ and His Kingdom. Ask God to help us love our neighbor as ourselves.
Now, the most important relationship is each individual's connection with Jesus Christ. Ask God to bless our efforts of sacrifice and service by leading people into the saving knowledge of who He is in all His glory. That people would recognize their separation from Him and need of His love, grace, and mercy. Serving people is a nice, pleasant thing to do, but will not in and of itself redeem a person's soul. Pray that God would give us boldness and strengthen us to intentionally make this about Him.
2 Timothy 1:7 says, "For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power, and love, and self-discipline."
In Love, River Valley Staff
