Hello again River Valley!
We are on week three of our prayer and preparation for "40 Days of Community." Remember, if you cannot remember what to pray for, reference the e-mails.
Last week, we prayed for the lost, so this week we are asking that you lift up to God one of our other values at River Valley...families. Pray for the families within our church as well as families that might be impacted by what God is doing through us during "40 Days of Community."
Praying for "families" may sound pretty generic, so here are a couple of thoughts to consider as you pray. Often families in our society, churched or unchurched, do not know how to grow closer to Christ together. During this 40 day journey, families will be purposefully going out with other people from their small groups into the world to serve and help those less fortunate. Missional living is one of the best ways to bring families closer together. It gets us outside of our houses, away from television and video games, and helps us connect with those we 'know' best. While you are praying for families within our church, remember that this 40 Day journey is to serve as a catalyst to our 4 strategies. So pray that families will see the value it has in their own hearts and as they learn the importance of it, will continue to find ways to serve as a family after the "40 Days" program is over.
Now, as we follow in the footsteps of Christ in service projects, we will encounter many people. Pray for the families that may be on the receiving end of what we are doing. Pray that God's name will be glorified and families all across Bastrop will see the love of Christ manifested in our lives of service. Remember, this is not about us, it's all about the Lord. 40 Days is about exalting our King.
Pray for our church family, pray for families within our church, and pray for families outside of our church.
